Three strangers – who live in the same New York City apartment building and share an obsession with true crime – suddenly find themselves involved in a murder. He is actually a very talented and gifted musician. The viewer learned in the first episode that CHS lived above Oliver who lived above Mabel, with that elevator scene.

BUT the opening shows CHS in an apartment on the 7th floor, Oliver on the 8th, Mabel on the 9th – in reverse order and well below the actual floor of CHS’s apartment in the series. When the first few episodes of “Only Murders in the Building” started getting 100% audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, I have to admit I was skeptical about Steve Martin and his co-stars’ ability to maintain the quirky and fun side of this comedy-thriller series until the very last episode. But he, Martin Short and Selena Gomez make for an unlikely but turbulent trio that keeps us guessing and entertained until the very last episode of this brilliantly written and infectiously funny series.
How this ragtag trio comes together to solve a strange murder that takes place in her apartment forms the rest of the story
Steve Martin and a fantastic Martin Short play two geriatric ex-artists who meet a young woman (Gomez) who is also a murder podcast fanatic. While some investigative comedy series have had huge fan bases, such as Monk (2002-09) and Psych (2006-14), this genre has always been a tightrope walk that most creators avoid. With plot twists and turns and a host of delightful supporting characters, it’s no surprise that Steve Martin was also one of the creative geniuses behind the writing of this work.
Worthy of the 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating
Leaving us on a tantalizing razor’s edge with a breathtaking climax, I can’t wait to see season two. An immensely binge-worthy riot of laughs, suspense, and suspense! Highly recommended!
